A 16.5-Acre Piece of George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate Lists for $60M

This week, a lavish mansion came onto the market in Alexandria, Virginia. However, it’s not the 16,000-square-foot home that has a history attached to it, but the 16.5 acres it sits upon. Part of George Washington’s original Mount Vernon estate, this listing comes with a monumental $60 million price tag.

As the home of the first president and his wife, Martha Washington, Mount Vernon is now a national landmark. According to Mansion Global, this particular piece of land remained in Washington’s family until 1859. Since then, there have only been four owners.

Former chairman of Lockheed Martin, Robert Stevens, and Michelle Stevens are the current owners and have changed up the property completely. Designed in American Federalist-style, perhaps to reflect its history, the impressive structure is anything but old as it was built in 2018. It has a 15-seat movie theater, a game room with a full bar and pool table, an indoor pool and sauna, and a massive home gym. There is also a carriage house and guest house on the property, giving the estate a total of seven bedrooms, seven full bathrooms, and six half baths.

Suitably dubbed River View Estate, the stately home has 400-feet of water frontage on the Potomac and peaceful vistas. It also has smart technology. Geotechnical stabilization was implemented to prevent erosion, so whoever spends a hefty $60 million on the estate can rest assured that it will stay in place.

Heather Corey of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty holds the listing. Its new manor, with stunning spaces and ample windows, was created by architect Jim Rill and built by West Wing Builders.
