50 Cent Sells His 50,000-Square-Foot Connecticut Home for Only $2.9M

1/11Photographs courtesy of Douglas EllimanAfter more than 10 years of searching for a buyer, rapper 50 Cent has finally unloaded his 17-acre Connecticut estate for far less than he wanted for it. First listed in 2007 for $18.5 million, the Farmington home just closed for $2.9 million. Considering the property offers 19 bedrooms, 19 full bathrooms, and 16 half bathrooms across 51,657-square-feet of living space, this is a surprising closing amount to say the least.Perhaps the compound’s overwhelming size and custom amenities were what made it so difficult to sell. Not only does it boast a massive main house, but there are also multiple guesthouses on the premises as well as a pool, pond, basketball court, recording studio, conference room and fully equipped night club. The picturesque estate could read more like an all-inclusive Connecticut resort than a home sweet home type residence and was certainly in need of a very particular buyer. You might have “21 Questions” about this epic property, so the best place to start is back when 50 Cent bought it. According to the Wall Street Journal, the musician snagged it from Mike Tyson in 2003 for $4.1 million and put quite a bit more money into renovations, making the loss on the sale even more glaring.Through grand doors, the lavish décor is a given. Marble floors, high ceilings, and dark wood detailing all exude opulence. It feels like a venue for the party of the century, and for the new owner, that would be easily achievable.Jennifer Leahy of Douglas Elliman had this unique celebrity listing.Photographs courtesy of Douglas EllimanAfter more than 10 years of searching for a buyer, rapper 50 Cent has finally unloaded his 17-acre Connecticut estate for far less than he wanted for it.
