1/15Photographs courtesy of The Corcoran GroupLocated in the heart of Brooklyn, a Park Slope townhouse with an intriguing past has recently been put on the market. The brownstone was previously owned by William Gaynor, former mayor of New York from 1910-1913. Gaynor is known as the only New York mayor to ever to be shot in an assassination attempt while in office. He recovered enough from his wounds to resume his duties as mayor, however, the bullet remained lodged in his neck and after three years, it finally killed him, according to the Green-Wood Historian. Now, a little over 100 years later, the legendary politician’s home is on the market asking $3.795 million. This historic, two-unit home encapsulates the essence of elegance and gravitas with its distinctive brownstone exterior. The unique 4,458-square-foot abode boasts seven bedrooms, five bathrooms, and soaring 11-foot-high ceilings throughout. Rich mahogany archways accentuate the detailed craftsmanship and traditional characteristics of the townhouse, while crisp white walls and sun-filled bay windows provide an open and airy atmosphere. An eat in kitchen looks out over the south facing garden, which offers plenty of space for entertaining and enjoying a beautiful day outside. The storied property located in the coveted Park Slope area, moments from Prospect Park, is listed with Karen and Kyle Talbott of Corcoran.Photographs courtesy of The Corcoran GroupLocated in the heart of Brooklyn, a Park Slope townhouse with an intriguing past has recently been put on the market.
