Actor Anthony Edwards Asks $6.5M for His Oceanfront Dana Point Vacation Home

Dana Point is a laidback, luxurious Orange County town much like Laguna Beach or San Clemente. Just far enough away from L.A. to lose the city’s fast feel, it’s no wonder celebrities have found beach homes to love here. An oceanfront property long owned by Anthony Edwards (‘Goose’ in the original Top Gun and Dr. Mark Greene in ER) just listed for $6.5 million. After only a few days on the market, the actor’s Spanish Colonial Revival has already received a strong offer.

According to Mansion Global, Edwards dropped $1.525 million to buy the vacation home in 1998, but he didn’t nab just any coastal California getaway. This 2,166-square-foot residence is one of Dana Point’s original beach houses. It was built in 1928 by the prominent Doheny family, for whom nearby Doheny State Beach was named.

Tucked behind a discrete privacy wall within the guard-gated Capistrano Beach community, the house is tranquility personified. From the ocean views to the rich wood beams and arched glass doors, each space hugs you and beckons you to stay awhile by the sea. While the interiors brimming with details like whimsical tiles and unique light fixtures delight, it’s the courtyard that might transport you far away. Putting the focus on the terracotta roofing and warm Mediterranean tone of the property, it’s a perfect place to host lively parties or sink into alfresco lunches with family.

While the square footage is fairly standard, the house packs in five bedrooms. If the current buyer’s offer sweeps it into contract soon, someone new can soon look forward to years of fun in the sun here. Justin Alexander of Compass holds the listing.
