California’s iconic Santa Monica Pier has served as the backdrop for many films like 1941 and the third installment of Beverly Hills Cop, but the connection to Hollywood doesn’t stop there. Nearby and practically on the beach sits a rental that was designed by Canadian actor Donald Sutherland, known for his diverse roles that range from playing President Snow in The Hunger Games to the playful professor role in Animal House and amused father in Pride and Prejudice. His former seaside spot is now available to lease for $12,000 a month, just steps away from the fun-filled pier.

Acting prowess certainly runs in the family, as Donald’s son is none other than Kiefer Sutherland, famous for his work in the TV action thrillers like Designated Survivor and 24. When not on set, Donald was seemingly busy creating this Santa Monica beach house that captures unmatched views of the Pacific Ocean. Boasting a wonderfully livable rustic aesthetic throughout, nothing too fussy or formal, the 1,200-square-foot pad lets features like woodwork and built-ins to shine.

Reveling in waterfront living was at the forefront of Sutherland’s design, with the main living room perfect for lowkey nights watching TV and warming up by a fireplace to offset breezes from the ocean. The kitchen has all updated Thermador and Miele appliances and a cozy dining room for entertaining.

Along with these living spaces, there are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The primary suite has ample storage, as well as a dual shower and steam room for washing off after a day on the beach. The house comes fully furnished to give those interested a seamless rental experience.
