Aerosmith’s Joe Perry Lists Remarkable Massachusetts Family Estate for $4.5M

Joe Perry, a founding member of Aerosmith and the band’s lead guitarist, has long owned an estate in quiet and coastal Duxbury, Massachusetts. Picking the property up in the 1980s, he and his wife, Billie Paulette Montgomery, made it their primary residence and family home. Now that their children are grown, however, they’ve listed the 7.14-acre New England oasis known as Brook Haven Farm for $4.5 million.

Accessed through either of the two gated entrances, it’s the ultimate countryside retreat for creating or unwinding with marsh views in the distance. According to Janet Koelsch of Coldwell Banker Realty, who shares the listing with Bert Koelsch, the land held an artist’s small summer house when the pair first found the property. Once it was securely theirs, they enhanced the structure and kept adding to it harmoniously.

With stone fireplaces, light-filled rooms, and details like a staircase with guitar necks, it’s an inviting setting. Over the years, the Perrys have hosted many musicians and songwriters at the ultra-private estate, including Lenny Kravitz, Desmond Child, and Diane Warren.

Aerosmith also spent time at Brook Haven Farm and benefited from the inspiring atmosphere. From 1989 up until recently, the entire basement of the home held a professional recording studio dubbed The Boneyard. It was here that Aerosmith’s blues album Honkin’ on Bobo was recorded live with all band members present, as well as three of Joe Perry’s solo albums. Aerosmith hit songs like “Cryin’” and “Livin’ On The Edge” were also written on the property.

Near to beautiful Duxbury beaches as well, there’s much to love about this tranquil compound and its location. Agent Janet Koelsch says, “They don’t need this size home anymore, but it’s been bittersweet because they have absolutely embraced the town and the home.”

The estate is currently made up of two lots and holds a pool, main house, three-stall barn with a tack room, and a detached carriage house. In total, there are 7,181 square feet of living space, five bedrooms, four full baths, and four half baths.
