Mindy Kaling, who plays one of three Mrs.’s in this Friday’s release of A Wrinkle In Time, just sold one of her three exquisite properties for $1.955 million. Much like her character in the movie, Kaling has an appreciation for the, as-of-now only feasible form of time travel, preserving and restoring architectural details of the past. The modest, but by no means inexpensive home is a Spanish-style bungalow located in Beverly Grove, and might just be the least impressive of her charming residences, which lends an idea as to how far upward the witty Hollywood multi-tasker’s tastes go. The 2,674-square-foot single-floor abode was originally listed for $2.195 million, but the sale encountered some earlier wrinkles in the form of failed escrows over the past seven months, according to Variety.

Now, however this haven of subtle luxury is officially off the market. The new owners can relish arched doorways, vaulted ceilings and beams and floors colored in rich coffee bean tones. There is no shortage of sun in this refreshing space that effortlessly marries old-school charm with modern convenience. For the detail-oriented, there seem to be a plethora of special nooks and amiable details like embedded bookcases in the walls and a vegetable sink in the island.

Some of the home’s best features are the cozy fireplaces and the spacious dining room, which could easily fit A Wrinkle In Time’s entire leading cast. The master bedroom boasts a cheery dressing room and bathroom with a splash of vintage green tile. There are some additional character-building traits outside. Head up the driveway, and you’ll come to a former garage/now fitness center with sky top roof. And perfect for a quick relax after a workout is the casually intimate yard adjacent to an intricate herringbone-patterned patio. It’s those interesting juxtapositions that make this, small-by-Hollywood-standards-bungalow an absolute delight. 

Kaling’s other two properties far surpass the price range of this recent sell, so it’s not quite as mystifying a move as her Mrs. Who character might make. Her other two properties incorporate all of the time travel attributes we’d expect of Kaling. With the help of One Kings Lane, she’s renovated with a mind toward preserving period architecture while simultaneously incorporating the ease of luxury.
