American Stories: Edward Ferrell + Lewis Mittman
At Edward Ferrell + Lewis Mittman the mission is to create home furnishings that enrich lives by delivering a design focused luxury experience.
The company has been manufacturing handmade furniture in the United States since 1953.
Meticulous craftsmanship and careful attention to detail are the hallmarks of EF+LM designs. Classic proportions and timeless style ensure that EF+LM furnishings aesthetically relate to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
Commitment to customer service, unparalleled sales and manufacturing expertise help secure EF+LM’s position as a design partner and industry leader.
The company sells to designers and architects around the world through three company-owned and 24 representing showrooms.
The flagship showroom is located in Manhattan in the D&D building and offers designers the opportunity to view furniture in both room settings and a workroom environment. This was planned by EF+LM’s creative director, Phillip Jeffries, to showcase the company’s upholstery line. “A workroom or design laboratory concept was created with interior designers and their clients in mind. Being able to clearly view, test and compare upholstered furniture is an invaluable tool in the design process,” says Jeffries.
EF+LM has partnered with interior designers since the beginning to help drive sales and the direction of their brand. Over the years, the company has introduced furniture collections designed by Jamie Drake, Marshall Watson and Roger Thomas just to name a few.
They expanded their designer collections with the introduction of Lewis Mittman Atelier in 2014. The Atelier collection includes furniture designed by Marks & Frantz, Barry Goralnick, Katie Eastridge and Phillip Jeffries.
From furnishings to accessories, from standard to custom, EF+LM offers a total design resource backed by outstanding customer service and a family commitment spanning almost 60 years.
