America’s Most Expensive Home Will Soon Hit the Market in Bel Air

A Bel Air home of epic proportions, and with an epic price tag, is on the horizon. Known simply as “The One”, the palatial property has been 8 years in the making and may claim the title of the “world’s most expensive home,” and potentially the largest, according to Architectural Digest. With its expected price tag of approximately $340 million, the spread owned and developed by Nile Niami will certainly be the most expensive home for sale in the United States.

Much about the upcoming listing is hush, hush, but there’s nothing quiet about its presence. Acclaimed architect Paul McClean designed this example of excess, a 105,000-square-foot mansion that took 600 workers to complete. And accessing the five-acre property is quite an ordeal. Although no draw bridge links the driveway to the outside world, two rings of defense guard the perimeter. A moat and a 400-foot-long jogging track flank the home on three sides.

McClean shared with Arch Digest that he was largely inspired by LA’s environment and history, paying homage to the city’s signature modernism but done to an unprecedented scale. After all, words like “grand” or “opulent” are an understatement when taking in his creation. A total of 21 bedrooms (including a 5,500-square-foot master suite), 42 bathrooms, and a 30-seat movie theater lie within the completed work. Not to mention, a 30-car garage. Outside, five swimming pools and a 10,000-square-foot sky deck sit under the sun.

No listing exists yet for The One, but the property will be represented by Rayni and Branden Williams of The Beverly Hills Estates and Aaron Kirman of Compass. A stellar team of Niami, interior designer Kathryn Rotondi, and McClean made this astounding structure come to life.
