An Eco-Friendly Farmhouse on a Gentleman's Vineyard Asks $3.85M
For those who are interested in a full-bodied approach to the winemaking lifestyle, there are “gentleman’s vineyard” properties available in wine country. Currently on the market is a 23-acre estate on the slopes of Mt. Veeder, represented by Sotheby’s Ginger Martin. The $3.85 million listing includes a 4-bedroom modern farmhouse designed by Berkeley-based Arkin Tilt, known for its expertise in sustainability, a 4.4-acre vineyard of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and a hillside wine cave.
Looking at Napa Valley from an investment perspective, Heidi Rickerd-Rizzo, vice president and broker at Napa-based Terra Firma Global Partners, notes “We’re almost back to the 2006 peak,” she says, adding, “Calistoga is trending substantially. It’s the furthest north and has been one of the sleepy communities, but has access to Santa Rosa and the airport there, which is a huge plus.”
So if you’ve ever dreamed of the vintner’s life, the harvest awaits.
