Captain Kidd's island hideaway off Branford lists for $950k.On the map as High Island, just a 15-minute ferry ride from mainland Branford, this property is more commonly called Kidd Island, after the pirate who used the highest point on the island to look out for any British Navy ships in search of him, or so the story goes. Since 1905, it has been owned by a co-op comprised of a group of families who have enjoyed its sandy beach, two docks, clay tennis court and rustic gardens—which, together, sound like a lot of booty for an asking price of $950,000.
