Bing Crosby’s Storied Midcentury Modern in Rancho Mirage Just Listed for $4.5M

An American talent known for his smooth singing voice and acting prowess, Bing Crosby was a huge presence in Hollywood. And, just a couple of hours away from LA’s shining lights, he kept a stylish retreat near Palm Springs. Steeped in history, the legendary home in Rancho Mirage, California came onto the market in 2019 asking $5 million and is now up for sale again, last changing hands in 2005. With its list of esteemed visitors and midcentury modern design, this time, the legendary piece of history wants $4.5 million.

Built in 1957, the 6,700-square-foot house sprawls across more than an acre of land and is surrounded by palm trees. It boasts seamless features for indoor-outdoor living and mountain and valley views, plus tons of amenities. One can splash in the pool then rinse off in the outdoor shower or skip the heat and watch old movies in the home theater. The entire six-bedroom residence is set up for entertainment and fun, but the 1,400-square-foot primary suite is its own sanctuary. Here, a new owner can unwind after glamorous entertaining just like Bing Crosby might have done.

The crooner is the highlight of the property’s legacy, but his past visitors add another layer of allure. John F. Kennedy stayed in the estate’s two-bedroom guesthouse multiple times, inspiring it to be known today as the “JFK Wing.” The president’s alleged flame, Marilyn Monroe, also visited the estate.

If these walls could talk, they might more likely sing. Awaiting a buyer, the iconic home in Coachella Valley is listed with David Emerson and Alexandra Trejo of Compass.
