Q&A with Francesco Farina, CEO of Scavolini USA, Inc.
Dark And Handsome | Calacatta marble floor tiles provide sharp contrast to Scavolini’s Baltimora cabinetry.
Why black? What are the pros and cons of black cabinetry?
Black is the undisputed protagonist of interior decoration, especially in the contemporary home furnishings sector, but the color is becoming more appreciated in the realm of classical, timeless style. The use of black gives an aura of strength and decisiveness to a traditional kitchen like this one.
What features of this kitchen make it special?
The design, called Baltimora, was created for use in refined interiors, so the materials are all high quality. Another important characteristic is the customization, which is possible thanks to such components as ornate side panels, chimney hoods, base cabinets with wicker baskets, open shelving units, plate racks and Englishstyle framed lattice doors of wood and glass. A natural impulse would be to put an island in the middle of this kitchen, rather than a dining table.
Why not go for an island here?
We loved the idea of having a table where family and friends can gather together, within a composition that opens to the living room. Baltimora is a diverse line, though, so an island would be an easy option as well.
