Boca Oyster Bar is The Ultimate Place to Get Seafood in Bridgeport
I love the experience of a good meal. The food, of course, has to be paramount but it is also encompassed by the people you share a meal with and the surrounding environment.
Such was my recent experience at Boca Oyster Bar, the newest seafood and Mediterranean eatery in Bridgeport. Located at Steelpoint Harbor, the charming restaurant features a diverse menu and stunning views of the water that instantly creates a sense of ease and calm.
During our recent visit, I had the opportunity to try a little bit of everything their menu which included raw selections and their savory entrees. I started by looking their creative cocktail menu, which included classics like an Old Fashioned to fun choices like the Crispy Cucumber with Ketel One, cucumber mint, St. Germain, lime and Prosecco and the Island Breeze with Mount Gay Rum, Campari, lime juice and muddled pineapple, to name a few options. The wine and beer list were equally impressive that can be enjoyed at their modern rectangular bar or at one their inside or outside tables.
The first food course started with a tasting of their classic Boca Raw Bar Sampling Platter. This sharing platter featured a fresh selection of East and West coast oysters, local little neck clams, jumbo shrimp cocktail, BOCA ceviche, lobster tail, and variety of cocktail sauces. This was an incredible way to test a variety of their raw offerings, including their signature oysters.
They also offer a variety of appetizers that was also awesome for sharing including the lamb lollipops, ahi tuna tacos, a collection of their creative (and beautiful!) salads (the lobster cobb salad is a must!) and the delicious BOCA lobster roll with savory French fries. I was so impressed by their salads that offered a fun twist on your traditional salad where they used a hefty amount of seafood, fresh ingredients, and savory dressings.
There was also plenty of main dishes to try, including their flavorful blackened salmon, a 16oz pork chop, and their mouth-watering Chilean sea bass and mussels with couscous in a divine lobster broth. I'm a huge salmon lover so I knew that this one would be a hit but I was also surprised by their blackening technique that enhanced the juicy flavors of the salmon and was beautifully paired with vegetable rice and pineapple.
The desserts were equally exciting where we nibbled on their rich chocolate cake, NY-style cheesecake and the incredible Italian ice sampler from Micalizzi's. They were incredibly fresh and refreshing, which was the perfect treat after our evening of sampling, soaking in the sights, and rediscovering what Bridgeport has to offer.
