Bridgehampton’s Famed Sandcastle Estate Finds a Buyer for $31M

On her 2016 album Lemonade, Beyoncé crooned, “We built sandcastles that washed away.” While the lyric is above all else a nod to a difficult time during her marriage to Jay-Z, other meanings can certainly be gleaned. The couple, for example, once spent time at this Bridgehampton home dubbed “Sandcastle,” which listed three years ago for $50 million. According to the NY Post, they rented it for a month in 2012. Now, instead of washing away, the famed Hamptons estate at 612 Halsey Lane just sold for $31 million, most recently seeking $34.995 million.

Developer Joe Farrell created, and until last week owned, the 17,000-square-foot residence on 11.5 acres. Packed with amenities, Sandcastle boasts a full-sized baseball field, basketball court, squash court, sunken tennis court, and a two-lane bowling alley. It, of course, has the requisite pool and a huge hot tub as well, but some surprising features include a club area with a DJ booth, full bar, wine room, and lounge with five TVs. The 2,400-square-foot pool house has additional room for yoga or art studios, or even creating an office detached from the rest of the home to more clearly define work and play.

The main house, with 10 bedrooms and 10 full bathrooms, is certainly worthy of the castle title it has been given. As for the sand, the beach sits just a five-minute drive away.

Tal Alexander and Sara Goldfarb of Douglas Elliman represented the buyer in the deal.
