A Darien Home Gets a Modern Yet Rustic Refresh from Jody Deluca Designs
The design firm's goal was to help the clients fall in love with their circa-1910 haven.
At Jody Deluca Designs, their driving force is to make clients happy while pushing them to think of their homes in a new way. That’s exactly what they have been doing at an ongoing project in Darien. When longtime clients came to them seeking to make their circa-1910 haven more transitional, the design firm was only too happy to oblige.
Given the recent pandemic, the approach to designing homes has been flipped upside down. Spaces are not only designed to look good, but now also have new purposes for function. Jody Deluca Designs has been working with clients to reimagine their homes, turning nooks and corners into calming reading and morning coffee spots, transforming unused and cluttered rooms into dreamy home offices, and even making kitchen dining areas into part-time craft zones.
The design firm has a relationship with this home and its owners that stretches back before the pandemic, however. Over the years, the team has moved from room to room creating a cohesive flow of chic style. It has been a journey of creativity and collaboration. Transforming it into a warm, inviting environment, they’ve had fun thoughtfully pairing rustic and modern accents. But, as a historic structure, it has also been vital to brighten up the spaces.
They lightened the beautiful white oak floors to a matte, no-sheen blonde complemented by off-white walls and onyx trim. With a love of mixing old and new, Jody Deluca Designs moved cherished items around the house to fresh places in order to give them a new purpose and feel. Layered and comfortable, it looks effortless.
As we are all hopefully coming out on the other side of a whirlwind year, the firm’s thoughtful design of this home has created a new appreciation for its sacred spots. Going forward, the clients will have the joy of spending time here because they want to, not because they feel like they have nowhere else to go. The goal has always been, and especially now is, helping clients fall in love with their homes.
Jody Deluca Designs has a full-service team that works day-in and day-out to ensure the smooth transition of everything from the initial design presentation in the showroom to the final placement of that colorful throw pillow. They have a tight-knit crew that is always working with trusted vendors to get updates on stock and having continual check-ins with contractors on new build and renovation projects. Everything from a wallpaper installation to a new build is feasible with their exceptional network of professionals.
At the beginning of 2021, in the spirit of kicking off a fresh new year, Jody Deluca Designs moved its showroom and offices to a brand new location in Greenwich on Field Point Road. The open floor plan allows the team to not only stock furniture for sale off the floor, but also to have their clients try out the comfort level of different brands when it comes time to source furniture for their home.
The team welcomes walk-ins to see the wide selection of fabrics, wallpaper, custom pillows, artwork, and much more available for sale so stop by if you’re in the area to meet them. To see more of their work and get in touch, you can also visit jodydeluca.com.
