Ellen DeGeneres Scoops a Balinese-Style Mansion for $27M
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are no strangers to flipping properties, in fact, you could call them experts at the risky real estate game. How they find the time in their successful acting and hosting careers to dabble so much in real estate, well that’s a mystery, but it’s always exciting when they snag a new property. The question then arises: Is it to be their home or a new project? Only time will tell.
On this occasion, the couple purchased a spectacular Balinese-style mansion in the Montecito community of Santa Barbara. An affluent area where Rob Lowe currently has a house on the market asking $47 million, DeGeneres and de Rossi dropped a mere $27 million on the 8.24-acre estate. Listed first for $40 million in 2017 and then chopped to $35 million, DeGeneres actually nabbed the residence for a discount, according to Yolanda’s Little Black Book.
Within the whopping 8,188-square-foot floor plan, there are 5 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms and luxurious spaces like open living areas indoors and out, a guesthouse, and a cabana and gym. Outside, the mesmerizing infinity pool has a beautiful, waterfall design that oozes glamour. Plus, gorgeously lush grounds with mountains in the distance actually make you feel like you’re on vacation in Indonesia.
Palatial interiors and luxurious features make it tough to visualize this structure undergoing any sort of renovation. It’s definitely turnkey ready, but are DeGeneres and de Rossi ready to commit to keeping it? Perhaps after selling a Montecito house they had envisioned as their forever home, they’ve found something similar in this Balinese beauty.
