Ellen DeGeneres Scoops Up a Cali Beach House for $18.6M
Ellen DeGeneres just nabbed a Santa Barbara beachfront property in Carpinteria, California for a cool $18.6 million. Her purchase now stands as the county's highest on-market sale of 2017.
The property listed by Marsha Kotlyar of MK Properties and Kathy Winter of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services went into escrow with the famous philanthropist after only 14 days on the market and officially closed last week.
According to the Post, Suzanne Perkins of Sotheby’s International Realty represented DeGeneres in the sale.
Located on Padaro Lane, a popular street with A-list celebs, DeGeneres’ four bedroom, 6,000-square-foot pad was recently remodeled and boasts crisp interiors with soaring ceilings and walls of glass. The entire second floor is a lush master suite with enticing perks like a home office, massive walk-in closet and multiple roof decks.
The beach house sits on 1.13 acres of manicured land and includes a pristine clay tennis court and plunge pool. A separate one-bed room guesthouse (which sleeps eight!) awaits Ellen’s many celebrity friends, including new neighbors Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis.
A known house flipper, it is unclear if DeGeneres intends to keep the house as a relaxing beach getaway or upgrade the property for a profit. The comedian and her wife, actress Portia de Rossi, are still waiting for bites on the Montecito estate they listed earlier this year for $45 million.
As news of a second wedding in Australia for the 10-year-strong couple broke at the same time, we can't help but wonder if the million-dollar estate is an early second wedding present.
The master suite offers anything a new owner could wish for and more. The private roof deck becomes a second master bedroom on temperate evenings.
