1/17Photographs by Jim Bartsch, Courtesy of Mansion GlobalProlific power couple Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have displayed a prowess for flipping houses in the past, buying and selling three homes in Southern California over the past year alone. Now, the beloved talk show host and her actress wife can add another sale to their portfolio; that of their Montecito estate. First listed for $45 million over a year ago, the stunning property has now sold for $34 million to Netflix executive Ted Sarandos in an off-market deal. Parting with the home, which they first scooped up for $26.5 million in 2013, is likely bittersweet for the couple, with DeGeneres writing in her 2015 book Home, “I really do hope that we live here forever.”Sitting on 17 acres of land in Montecito, an unincorporated part of Santa Barbara County also home to Oprah and Tom Cruise, the rustic yet modern mansion was extensively and thoughtfully renovated by DeGeneres and de Rossi over the course of four years. The 10,500-square-foot final result features a barrel-tile roof, 18th-century Italian tiles, and a whopping nine wood-burning fireplaces, while still maintaining the Old Hollywood glamour of its cobblestone motor court and creeping vines. As the new owners of this estate, Sarandos and his wife, former ambassador to the Bahamas Nicole Avant, will enjoy a newly-built entertainment pavilion, a tennis court, and two pools.
