Eleish Van Breems Home Opens a Store in Nantucket
Scandinavian style on the island just in time for summer.
Everyone has been so welcoming and we feel like we’ve been given a huge hug from the community. We’re proud to be here and can’t wait for visitors to walk through our doors and experience this magical place.”
RHONDA ELEISH, CO-OWNER OF EVB HOME
Harmony with nature, quality of craft, mind and body wellness, and beautiful design are just a few hallmarks of Scandinavian design that define Eleish Van Breems Home. Rhonda Eleish and Edie Van Breems have championed their concept in their two stores in Westport, CT and have now opened a Nantucket location that is a labor of love.
Rhonda and Edie began their connection with Nantucket in their college years when they rented a house with friends and they were hooked. “Over the years, we kept revisiting the idea of a Nantucket shop. So many of our pieces end up in Nantucket and we always knew that we wanted to have a presence on the island” explains Rhonda Eleish. And when they scouted for a pop-up space last summer, they found a building they couldn’t resist and decided to make a permanent commitment.
Inside the brand new 910 square-foot space on the water in the heart of downtown is a collection of furniture, home accessories, tableware, leather goods, books, games and even Swedish dog wear. Continuing to work with small manufacturers in Sweden with an empahasis on family owned companies is still incredibly important to their business and the new store is an extension of their Westport location with an inviting island twist.
With every exciting project, there’s always a plot change and right as the Nantucket shop became a reality, Coronavirus hit. General Manager, Ryan Rosano, came to the rescue and headed bravely to the island to set up shop and make the opening happen no matter what. And the rest is history. Teamwork made it happen and Rhonda and Edie are thrilled to have the store up and running for the summer season.
