For the past 21 years, the Hampton Designer Showhouse has been blending the worlds of philanthropy and design to create inspiring spaces and give back to the community. This year, a historic home in the Village of Southampton known as Wooley House was transformed, owned by Jason Khan and Juan Londono.

Now shining with the visions of 24 design firms, the 2021 Hamptons Designer Showhouse is open to the public until October 31st, with ticket proceeds benefiting the Stony Brook Southampton Hospital.

If you’re lucky enough to visit the stunning home, you don’t want to miss the kitchen brimming with a mix of modern and classic elements, custom finishes, and JennAir‘s striking appliances. Here, we’re giving you the inside scoop on what went into the making of this exceptional space.

Khan, a developer for almost 20 years skilled in preserving Brooklyn brownstones, and Londono, a real estate agent and developer, were halfway into the restoration and expansion with Doug Cavallo of Cavallo Builders when the Hamptons Designer Showhouse approached them. Thrilled with the charitable aspect, the homeowners agreed to provide their property for the esteemed event, forgoing months of lucrative rent or their use of the house to make it happen.

Heavily involved in every part of the renovation, Khan and Londono knew exactly where the kitchen would live. They placed it in the addition they were creating under the Village’s strict historic regulations. Complementing the circa-1830s portion of the house, this extension has fresh flair yet stays true to the property’s historic roots.

Through the Hampton Designer Showhouse, Ciuffo Cabinetry was brought on to create, install, and build the kitchen’s overall design, a collaborative process with the homeowners. With JennAir as the official appliance sponsor and Kate Singer on board for staging, the kitchen team was set.

Taking inspiration from the Hamptons location, Gary Ciuffo had a clear idea in mind. “We knew right away that we wanted to go with the classic white palette for our kitchen cabinetry. We wanted to pay homage to the home’s storied past while introducing some modern elements, so white was the perfect foundation to begin with for a timeless, elegant look.”

A huge part of its modern edge? The JennAir appliances, which rebel against the idea of old luxury and introduce a new way to live. The homeowners were unfamiliar with the brand but were soon captivated. “We were in love with what we saw,” Khan recalls.

“I was very impressed with the way the products felt in the showroom, and I definitely found it hit all the marks with the function and design,” continues the developer. “The sustainability factor, the modern factor, and that the products are so technologically advanced with WiFi remote start and the Culinary Center, which allows you to indulge in culinary adventures tailored precisely to your preferences with step-by-step assisted cooking recipes.” Initially intending to live there once the home was complete, needless to say, Khan and Londono were tremendously happy that these beautiful appliances would fill their spaces.

JennAir offers two design expressions: RISE™ and NOIR™. Due to the historic nature of the property and the airy look of the cabinetry and shiplap ceilings, RISE™ was chosen as the best fit for the kitchen, while NOIR™ found a home in the pool house.

As the design process unfolded, both Ciuffo Cabinetry and the homeowners envisioned a kitchen ideal for large-scale entertaining. This can be seen in the generous layout, massive island, coffee bar, and appliance choices. Gary Ciuffo shares, “I picture family and friends preparing all kinds of wonderful meals in this kitchen, and making lasting memories long after meals have been served.”

With two dishwashers, a warming drawer, JennAir’s dual-fuel professional-style range with a chrome-infused griddle, an undercounter beverage center, a built-in coffee system, and more, it is ready for all of one’s hosting needs. The JennAir RISE™ Design Expression products also add glamour to the atmosphere, a key ingredient when throwing parties in the Hamptons. Simply opening the column refrigerator and freezer, the daring obsidian interiors bring an unexpected wow factor. Made of mixed metals with robust lines, the range also indulges in a bold design.

The rest of the kitchen’s elements are just as dreamy, shining with thoughtful customizations. The cabinetry is painted a custom paint color, made in-house by Ciuffo Cabinetry, and given a high gloss finish. There’s also a custom hood—made with brushed and polished stainless steel—and the island back paneling made with custom-stained and cerused plain sliced oak done in ship-lap style. Silestone countertops from Cosentino, a honed marble herringbone backsplash, and the sink/plumbing from Kohler complete the space.

As visitors tour this bright kitchen born of collaboration and innovation, inspiration reveals itself from all angles. Whether Khan and Londono decide to call the now-complete, 7,000-square-foot beauty home or move on, their first Hamptons project has certainly been an exciting experience.

Proving to be a joy for the designers as well, Gary Ciuffo said, “To be a part of this home’s epic transformation and to see our fellow designers’ hard work come to life has been a true pleasure.” After the showhouse is over, it will be the JennAir appliances’ turn to get to work.
