Financier’s Waterfront Greenwich Mansion Hits the Market Asking $55M
Huge estates have been listed or sold in Greenwich lately, with sellers like Tommy Hilfiger in the mix, but this mansion even tops the fashion designer’s now-former home in price. Tremblant Capital founder Brett Barakett and his wife Meghan Barakett have listed their waterfront Greenwich home for a staggering $55 million. Mansion Global reports that the land was once owned by longtime IBM president Thomas J. Watson Jr., as well, so the site is quite used to high-profile financiers.
However, the impressive house was never home to Watson. The Baraketts purchased the property in 2005 and brought in Shope Reno Wharton to design their stone masterpiece. Situated on almost 2.5 acres and boasting 340 feet of Long Island Sound, it is a picture-perfect spot on Field Point Circle. With 15,580-square-feet of living space and eight bedrooms, it is also certainly not your average home.
Inside, sophisticated living spaces with high ceilings and traditional décor await. Foodies will certainly swoon at the light and bright kitchen with a huge island. Then just outside glass doors, one can walk right out to the deep-water dock for a boat ride. There is also both an indoor and outdoor pool so it doesn’t have to be warm to enjoy the water.
While in the past, one might think it would take quite some time to find a buyer at this price point, the Connecticut real estate market is booming. Only time will tell, but Leslie McElwreath and Joseph Barbieri of Sotheby’s International Realty have the listing.
