Five Finds from Westport Stores that Help Battle the Freeze

Now that the bustling days of holiday shopping have passed, every Santa deserves a carefree shopping spree. How about some indulgences that will battle January’s frosty chill? I took a day in Westport’s downtown retail wonderland and hand picked five toasty-warm necessities. First, I fueled up at the top of the way with an organic vanilla chai tea from David’s Tea.

Next stop—Fig Linens. Because, what’s more important than a super-soft throw blanket? These Sferra beauties are 100-percent cotton, brushed in a way that creates a plush texture that is downright heavenly. A soft array of rich pastels complements the relaxed aesthetic. Celine throw, $79, Fig Linens, 66 Post Road East, 203-227-8669.

Just a few steps away, Dovecote offers just about everything to warm your home and body. These stretchy gloves offered in an array of punchy hues caught my eye. With its clean design and economical price, I’ll take a pair in every color. Classic Wrist Glove, $20, Dovecote, 56 Post Road East, 203-222-7500.

Quick word association: Lux, Bond & Green. Did you think “jewelry?” Probably, but the shop also carries a choice selection of home accessories, like these catchy Alexandra Ferguson pillows that instantly add warmth and youthfulness to your sofa. Crafted from recycled felt and filled with a recycled polyester insert, these Brooklyn-made gems really do epitomize the good life. The Good Life 16-inch pillow, $97, Lux, Bond & Green, 136 Main St., 203-227-1300.

King of kitsch Jonathan Adler has an array of cold-weather cures (oversized candles, soft throws, hat and glove sets), but I was particularly grabbed by the selection of men’s socks. Perfect for business bros and creative types alike, Adler’s cozy socks feature a hand-linked toe for extra comfort. The fine gauge and superior softness make these babies perfect for day-to-day wear. $14, 166 Main St., 203-221-4547.

You’ll feel warm just walking into the tangerine-decked space at House of Clement, a treasure trove of furniture and accessories like this luxe candle. Crafted to burn for 50 cozy hours, Christian Lacroix’s Montmajour candle is made in France and scented with notes of amber, sandalwood and cypress. $86, 181 Main St., 203-349-5300.

Reward a hard day’s shopping with a craft cocktail from one of the nearby watering holes—Luxe Wine Bar, the Spotted Horse Tavern and Neat (I recommend Neat’s Blackberry Beret) are all within walking distance.
