Former Van Halen Frontman Sammy Hagar Lists Lake Arrowhead Retreat

The notion of a rockstar lifestyle comes with its share of connotations. Trashed dressing rooms, partying, and wild concerts are all on the list. But Sammy Hagar’s Lake Arrowhead home, which just came on the market asking $3.9 million, undercuts the stereotype. The rocker was the lead singer for Van Halen from 1985 to 1996, a time period with the band grew incredible popular and went multi-platinum four times. After quite a career, his rustic waterfront home is a tranquil treasure, suggesting that even the hardest of rockers need their rest and relaxation.

Sitting on a hill just above the water, the property slopes ever so slightly towards a series of scenic docks. The French Chateau-style home spans 6,557 square feet and counts 8 bedrooms and 9.5 bathrooms, blending seamlessly with the surrounding landscape and standing a monument to local craftsmanship. Artisans from the area cut the granite on-site, with the hand-carved limestone and hand-scraped walnut flooring also provided by nearby hands.

While the home could perhaps use some brightening, any necessary changes are purely cosmetic. In the kitchen lie two mountainous granite counters, with custom glazed Cherrywood cabinetry and a built-in warming drawer. The top-level, nicknamed “the arrival lounge” for its penthouse front door, has two guest bedroom suites that function almost as private guest houses.

With water views and plenty of luxurious corners, you’re more likely to nap in the breeze than go crowd surfing here. Tracy Tutor of Douglas Elliman has the listing.
