The Gold Coast’s Winfield Hall, Seen in a Taylor Swift Music Video, Just Sold for $8.25M

When thinking of the Gold Coast of Long Island, images of Gatsby’s mansion or exclusive country clubs may come to mind. And, the quintessence of historic, Gold Coast opulence exists at 77 Crescent Beach Road, better known as Winfield Hall. The manor sold last week for $8.25 million after hitting the market back in September. Filled with grandeur and ornate details, the property is even an on-screen star. It has most notably earned appearances in Taylor Swift’s ‘Blank Space’ music video, as well as HBO’s Boardwalk Empire and Mildred Pierce.

Despite places like the foyer and an upstairs bedroom featuring in key scenes of Swift’s ‘Blank Space,’ this circa-1915 home doesn’t have much in common with the song’s title. The 30,000-square-foot mansion lies secluded on over 16 acres, where every room captures a sense of drama and occasion. Meticulously molded ceilings, storied wood floors, and marble flow through the home.

It’s easy to see why HBO has gravitated here multiple times over the years as well since the estate is so pristinely preserved. The rooms and grounds are a time capsule of grandeur. Boardwalk Empire, set at the start of prohibition, chronicles the story of the fictional character Enoch Thompson. Based loosely on Enoch Johnson and his interactions with fellow politicians, crime bosses, and mobsters, the show is all about America in the 20s. And, what better picture of that than Winfield Hall?

Now that it’s changed hands, the new owner can take a step back in time here, too. Margaret Trautmann of Compass represented the seller, Denise Carey Bettencourt, in this recent deal.
