Hugh Jackman Drops $21.125M on an Ultra-Modern Chelsea Penthouse

After listing their longtime West Village triplex earlier this summer, Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness didn’t stray too far from their bearings on the west side. While the modern residence where they raised their kids is listed at a steep $38.9 million, the pair’s new digs reportedly cost just over half that at $21.125 million. You know, downsizing.

According to Mansion Global, the penthouse was first listed in October of 2021 for $25 million. Selling at a slight discount, the sellers are Daniel Fischel, former dean of the University of Chicago Law School, and Sylvia Neil, an associate dean at the school.

It’s clear that Jackman and Furness have a type when it comes to their homes—bright, sleek, and capturing jaw-dropping city views. The tower designed by French architect Jean Nouvel was built in 2010 and holds 57 units, with additional amenities including a lap pool, fitness center, and screening room.

Jackman’s new penthouse clocks in at 4,675 square feet, much smaller than the former 11,000 square foot space, but like his old property is a mainly white color palette with clean lines and walls of windows capturing 360-degree views of the city. Their old triplex stretched over three floors and employed whirling spiral staircases all the way through, but the newly-purchased unit sits on one-story and occupies its own floor.

Offering four bedrooms and four bathrooms, the space can still comfortably fit the pair and their two children. It may take a lot to feel cramped in the airy interior, but 4,400 square feet of terrace space provides even more room to relax or entertain.

Douglas Elliman held the listing.
