June’s 4 Freshest Design Discoveries
Take a peek at some of the buzziest news in the Connecticut scene.
THE SHOP BY SAM ALLEN
Westport designer Sam Allen’s coveted interiors are now accessible via a new e-commerce site, The Shop by Sam Allen. “I’ve curated a collection that reflects a Scandinavian-Californian approach to design,” says Allen. “It’s a relaxed, comfortable style of living, yet elevated, that incorporates the clean lines and natural materials of Scandinavian design.” His exclusive, handcrafted furniture– Handmade by The Shop by Sam Allen—is made in New England and deliverable in as little as six weeks. The array of styles includes dining, cocktail and side tables, nightstands, consoles, buffets and benches in a variety of sizes, finishes and wood materials. The Olive dining table, shown here, is fashioned from white oak with a cerused finish. Featuring multiple vendors and artisans, The Shop will continue to evolve, including a downtown Westport storefront/studio opening in August 2022.
SIMPLY SORTED LIVING
The pandemic was the impetus for New Canaan residents Danielle Kilarjian and Emily Warshowsky to start their home organizing business, Simply Sorted Living. With people spending more time at home, the two women saw the need for efficient space planning, decluttering and organization, allowing clients to focus on the important things in life. “We believe in creating systems that help families maintain order in their homes,” they note. Considering themselves “home therapists,” the pair identifies the things that aren’t working— obstacles hindering daily life—and find solutions that are both functional and beautiful. “Everything should have a home and a place,” says Kilarjian. “The goal is to leave the space filled with things that make you feel great.” Simply Sorted Living has quickly grown to include six organizers with clients throughout Connecticut, Westchester and NYC.
