Kristen Wiig Buys an Architectural Treasure in Pasadena

Bridesmaids star Kristen Wiig just closed on a unique 1947-built Pasadena, California home, called Case Study House #10, for $2.96 million. The architectural gem was part of the Los Angeles “Case Study Houses” program, a post-World War II experimental architecture project sponsored by Arts & Architecture magazine. This project and others that followed paved the way for Los Angeles to become a hub for modern architecture.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the split-level home maintains its mid-century spirit, while also feeling modern and luxurious. The structure went through a full restoration when it last changed hands in 2012 and now boasts top-of-the-line appliances throughout.

The 3,425-square-foot house, designed by architects Kemper Nomland and Kemper Nomland Jr., stuns with simple materials, walls of glass, and clean lines. Sitting on a sloping 15,989-square-foot lot, the comedic actress will enjoy outside bliss with terraced gardens, ample patios, a swimming pool and a spa.

Wiig snagged the property for just under asking price, with Curbed reporting that the home was listed in September for $2.99 million. Cynthia Luczyski and Lauren Luczyski of Deasy/Penner & Partners had the Mad Men-esque listing.
