Light Into Summer
Kick off summer with Sentinels on the Sound—a celebration of New London’s lighthouse heritage

Kick off summer with Sentinels on the Sound—a celebration of New London’s lighthouse heritage. Organized by the New London Maritime Society and funded by the Connecticut Humanities Council, the weekend will include activities to suit every age and interest. From tours and excursions to a cake competition and a shoreline bicycle tour, there’s something for everyone. The US Coast Guard will make an appearance to discuss the intricacies of lighthouse tending, and New England lighthouse expert Jeremy D’Entremont is a featured speaker. Make sure to stay through Sunday for a picnic and outdoor concert of opera favorites presented by the Saltmarsh Opera and the Stonington Historical Society. Avery Point Foundation, Ledge Light Foundation, Noank historical Society and Mystic Seaport are major partners in the celebration, which is planned for Friday, July 1, through Sunday, July 3.
