Look Inside a James Michael Howard-Decorated Sagaponack Estate
The term “fully furnished” doesn’t often elicit much enthusiasm, but when a home is decorated to the nines by a respected interior designer, the game changes entirely. In recent years, a number of interior decorators have been dipping their toes into the developer pool. Leading the pack is James Michael Howard, who bought his first Hamptons property in 2006 and has decorated and sold several houses since. Currently on the market are two soup-to-nuts projects listed with Corcoran’s Gary DePersia: a $19.75 million, seven-bedroom house overlooking Mecox Bay in Water Mill, which HC&G reported on last summer, and an $18.995 million, 11,000-square-foot residence complete with a theater, pool, tennis court, and guest quarters in Sagaponack. “I got used to buying property after opening five home accessories shops,” Howard says. “All my houses are offered fully furnished, and I’ve never had anyone opt out of the decor.”
