Malibu Beach House Designed by Surf Legend Matt Kivlin Lists for $13M
This Malibu beach house on Sea Lane is certainly no surf shack. The late Matthew Kilvin, who was a famous surfer and architect, created this airy residence and it reflects his love of design and appreciation for Malibu’s beachy landscape. The breathtaking abode, with direct and deeded access to the beach, is on the market now asking $12.995 million.
Each of the beachside spread’s 4,000 square feet soaks in a surfer, laidback feel while exuding luxury. Sundrenched outdoor lounges breezily connect to the interiors to create an indoor/outdoor vibe that is quintessentially Malibu. All eyes immediately travel to the stylish decks, which overlook the property’s splashy assortment of landscaping feats—the saltwater pool and spa sit beside an outdoor gym and sauna, all accompanied by a vast and grassy lawn. A new owner can almost solely indulge in outdoor living, in fact, since there is a complete outdoor kitchen as well. However, the airy master suite with ocean views and patio access will be the ultimate relaxation haven.
While Kilvin designed the main house, the property has since been expanded to become more of a compound. Closeby but completely separate, a second part includes a studio made of glass, steel, and polished concrete. A sleeping loft and Murphy bed can allow an artist their late nights, although the guest house next door might prove more appealing. Both new structures are surrounded by lush gardens, plus a pond and firepit.
