Matt Damon Breaks Records in Brooklyn with Penthouse Purchase
Matt Damon is entering 2019 with a bang. The beloved actor finally closed on the pricey penthouse atop The Standish, a luxury condominium in Brooklyn Heights, and broke the record for the most expensive residential sale in Brooklyn. The final sale price was $16.745 million, beating out the $15.5 million townhouse that actress Jennifer Connelly purchased in 2015. A $20 million penthouse in the borough’s sleek Quay Tower is currently in contract, however, so Matt Damon may not hold the record long.
Records change, but the Oscar winner’s real prize is the apartment itself. While details and photos of the residence are scant, Variety reports that it boasts 6,218-square-feet spread across two floors. There is also an impressive 3,366-square-foot terrace where Damon can enjoy uninterrupted views of the New York harbor and Manhattan, as The Standish is one of the tallest buildings in the area.
Since dailyDEEDS first reported that the six-bedroom unit was in contract in September 2017, this record-breaking deal was no doubt a practice in patience for all involved. Good things take time and the extensive wait perhaps created anticipation that made the monumental sale even sweeter.
Corcoran Sunshine had the posh listing.
