Montauk

Surf and turf reaches new heights as James Beard−nominated chef Jeremy Blutstein (previously of the Crow’s Nest and Showfish) and managing partner Vanessa Price, a sommelier and author, open Mavericks Montauk in the former East by Northeast spot at 51 South Edgemere. The modern steakhouse focuses on East End produce and seafood in a space reimagined by Architecture Outfit and designer Damon Liss.

Amagansett

Throughout the summer, Rosie’s is hosting a series of restaurants for two-week stints: Wayan, Odo, Charlie Bird, Wayla, Leland, Little Owl, and Isabelle’s Osteria.

East Hampton

International luxury goods retailer LVMH has bought One Main Street from fashion designer Elie Tahari and his son Jeremy for $22 million, moving premier brand Louis Vuitton into the primo space and focusing particularly on its summer collection LV by the Pool. The popular Italian eatery Tutto il Giorno has expanded to 55 Main Street with Tutto Café, an indoor-outdoor dining and takeout venue, while the Sweet Spot, at 106 Newtown Lane, is serving up frozen yogurt, milkshakes, and coffee courtesy of East Hampton’s 11th-generation Cooper family. Sant Ambroeus fans have more than one Hamptons option this summer, now that an outpost of the beloved Southampton restaurant has opened on Newtown Lane in the former Babette’s space. Meanwhile, Bobbi Brown’s clean-beauty brand Jones Road has found a brick-and-mortar home at 55 Main Street, and architect Toshihiro Oki has transformed 20 Newtown Lane for fashion label Derek Lam 10 Crosby, complete with a specialty denim bar. And overlooking pristine Town Pond, the Maidstone Hotel has been newly revamped by Irwin Simon of Tilray Brands and hotelier-restaurateur Mayank Dwivedi, who also recently picked up Lobster Roll and Montauk Brewing.

Sag Harbor

Jack’s Stir Brew has moved from Division Street to Main Street, giving Sylvester & Co. Modern General’s “Dreamy Coffee” and Sagtown Coffee a run for their Apple Pay. At 117 Main Street, their neighbor Jennifer Hallock Designs has opened a debut retail outlet offering housewares, kitchenware, accessories, and artwork. “I am looking forward to combining my love of beautiful objects and creating art into one thoughtful space,” Hallock says. Down the street, the former Montauk Lobster House is saying “bienvenue” to Vin sur Vingt Bistro, an extension of Sébastien Auvet’s five Manhattan wine bars serving authentic French fare. And the late, beloved Dockside on Bay Street is now Sag Harbor Kitchen, a sea-to-table pop-up from New York chef Melissa O’Donnell in partnership with culinary live-streaming platform Kittch.

Shelter Island

Look for Marie Eiffel’s trademark je ne sais quoi later this summer at Chez Marie, a small-plate bar and lounge at the Shelter Island House Inn at 11 Stearns Point Road, and at Merci Marie, a new concept store.

Water Mill/Southampton

Mecox has swapped storefronts to 1040 Montauk Highway in Water Mill, while Merit, the Los Angeles−based mecca for mid-20th-century-modern furniture, objects, and art, has moved into Mecox’s old digs at 257 County Road 39A in Southampton. At 43 Jobs Lane, Pratesi has popped up for the summer at Sferra, a cushy arrangement given that the brands are now owned by the same parent company, and La Vie Style House has traveled from Palm Beach to 42 Jobs Lane, dripping with caftans and wraps in a space decorated by Insta-famous artist Donald Robertson. And at the former Red Bar at 210 Hampton Road, EHP Hospitality Group (Sunset Harbor, EHP Resort and Marina, the Inn Spot) has opened the doors to its new bistro, Enchanté, featuring a French-inspired menu, extensive wine list, and signature cocktails. How charming, indeed.

Hampton Bays

Having reopened last year, the historic Canoe Place Inn & Cottages in Hampton Bays is going strong after a restoration by design studio Workstead that includes the chic, understated Good Ground Tavern, where executive chef Ülfet Ralph is serving up coastal Mediterranean cuisine. “It has been thrilling to reimagine an inn dating back to 1697,” says managing director Michael Brod. “The East End community has always had a strong connection to the property, and once again it has become a gathering place for locals and visitors.”
