1/9Photos by Simon Berlyn, Courtesy of Williams and Williams Estates GroupWhen Michael Garris, an electrical engineer and custom lighting designer, was looking to build a home for his family, he turned to acclaimed architect Paul R. Williams, with whom he collaborated on a number of projects. The product, designed and finished in 1958, is a breathtaking ode to the symbiosis of that relationship. Asking $11.5 million, the midcentury modern is on the market now for only the second time since its construction. After staying in the Garris family for 50 years, the four-bedroom, five-bathroom house hit the market in 2011 and sold for $3.45 million. The buyer? Music producer Max Martin, who has produced or co-written hits such as Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” and Ariana Grande’s “God Is a Woman.”Martin, who Variety reports is a lover of architecture, opted to preserve Williams’ design rather than pillage it, as is the fate of so many beautiful homes in Trousdale Estates. Sensitively restored with the help of the architects at Marmol Radziner and decorated by Brad Dunning, the Hillcrest Road home has retained its original footprint, clocking in at just under 4,000 square feet. The interiors ooze serious period details; oriental-style screens, river-rock walls, and terrazzo floors remain, but the popcorn ceilings have thankfully been done away with.As if its historic charm isn’t enough, the .63-acre lot also has a swimming pool, spa, and sweeping views. For more information, Branden and Rayni Williams of Williams & Williams Estates Group have the listing.Photos by Simon Berlyn, Courtesy of Williams and Williams Estates GroupWhen Michael Garris, an electrical engineer and custom lighting designer, was looking to build a home for his family, he turned to acclaimed architect Paul R.
