Radio Host Ira Glass Lists Chelsea Condo for $1.75M Following Building Drama
This American Life host Ira Glass and his wife Anaheed Alani have listed their 159 West 24th Street apartment a year after being sued by the building board. The Carriage House Condominium board sued the pair for allegedly refusing to let management into their apartment to deal with a rat and bed bug infestation, leading to a building-wide pest problem that forced some tenants to vacate.
For good measure, the couple started a complete gut-renovation after the incident. Now completed, Glass and Alani have listed the property for $1.75 million, according to 6sqft.
The cozy, one-bedroom spread has a light and airy feel throughout the home due to large windows and a bright white color palette. The chef’s kitchen is outfitted with brand new high-end appliances, ivory cabinets, and quartzite countertops.
Neutral colors and rustic furniture create calming tones in the bedroom. Although the apartment only clocks in at 1,020-square feet, the master offers understated luxury with a walk-in closet, dressing room, and spa-like bathroom.
The renovated gem is sure to make a new owner very happy, as long as he or she doesn’t get on the board’s bad side. A Compass team of Greg McHale, Jesse Shafer, Natalie Hedden, and Scott Laine has the listing.
