Robert Downey Jr. Bought the East Hampton Windmill Cottage
The iconic Edward DeRose Windmill Cottage in East Hampton, which has been on and off the market for a few years, appears to have a new owner: Robert Downey Jr.
The Iron Man actor's new home is not actually a working windmill—it's just a copy of the original East Hampton windmill—but it does offer 8,500 square feet of living space between the main house and the guest house and sits on 4 acres of land with a pool, tennis court and gardens. The entire estate offers 7 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms with an office and library occupying the windmill structure.
The property first came on the market in 2014 with a $13.5M price tag; it was most recently asking $11.9M. Peter Turino of Brown Harris Stevens represented the listing, which Curbed reported.
