When a young couple on Bell Island in Rowayton, Connecticut craved a one-of-a-kind look for their home, they called on Nukitchens to help their dream come to life. With busy schedules, the clients wanted elegant yet cool spaces that were functional for their everyday life and a potential future family.

Working closely with the clients and builder, Eric Salveson of Sterling Associates, Nukitchens designer Heather Rumore set out to develop plans for the kitchen, bar, walk-in pantry, master suite, powder room, and Jack & Jill bath. With a highly collaborative design process, it didn’t take long to discover the clients’ unique style. They wanted to preserve the home’s timeless, waterfront aesthetic but were drawn to trendsetting details.

The first puzzle piece to striking this balance was found when the couple fell in love with Nukitchens’ hand-rubbed custom Monocoat finish on character white oak. It expresses the pure grain of the wood and effortlessly complements the home’s coastal location. This was applied in the kitchen on the open shelves and repeated as a band on the custom hood, then continued in the cabinetry of the master bath.

From this spark, it became clear that the clients wanted all materials to be natural and of the highest quality possible. The designers brought in Calcutta Premium countertops, one of the most unique stone finishes in the world. They then worked with the clients to create a custom paint color that was gentle and soft. With this crisp taupe shade, the home is a vision of elegance.

To add in fresh trends and subtle drama, light bronze handles, a Galley sink, and a Waterstone faucet from the Nukitchens Collection were selected for the kitchen. Nearby, the bar mirrors this chic design creating beautiful cohesion at home no matter how chaotic life gets.

Nukitchens could understand this couple’s lifestyle on a deep level since it’s a family business based in Fairfield County and just minutes up the coast.

Joseph Najmy, the founder of Nukitchens, shared, “We love our clients and our showroom becomes like a second home as they work through the design, details, appliances, and materials throughout the project. Our team is very proud of our work. More importantly, our clients are very happy with the results.”
