Sandra Bullock’s 91-Acre Farm Oasis Near San Diego Lists for $6M
A-lister Sandra Bullock has a love of real estate and restoration that even rivals her love of acting. On Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett’s popular Smartless podcast she, in fact, referred to it as her “first love” and described putting all her pennies into such ventures early on. In Bullock’s interview she reflected, “I had something to fall back on that I loved just as much, if not more at times.”
A special one of the star’s homes just hit the market asking $6 million, giving a glimpse into her personal style and taste. It’s a gorgeous 91-acre farm just outside of San Diego, perfect for someone looking to scratch that farm-to-table itch. The property already had commercial avocado and citrus groves when Bullock purchased it, but she converted them to organic. And, that’s not all the Academy Award-winner did to turn it into a dreamy residence for her family’s pleasure.
Devising an extensive landscape plan, Bullock added a beautiful swimming pool, imported ancient olive trees, expanded the existing orchard and gardens, and carved walking paths and trails leading down to a pond placed for water conservation and irrigation.
When it came to the indoor spaces, the adobe ranch-style main home had good bones but needed some TLC to become the bright and welcoming hacienda it is today. Bullock renovated the 5,938-square-foot house, infusing pastoral elegance into every corner with a soft color palette, rustic wood touches, and comfortable textures like leather and linen. The kitchen, with its custom La Cornue range and ovens, is always ready for freshly plucked produce while wisteria and jasmine are just out the French doors for fragrant arrangements.
According to listing agent Alan Long of Beverly Hills-based Avenue 8, “The owner’s theme was not motivated by profit but to create a secluded retreat for family and friends to gather and play away from the bustle of urban life. To spend some private time, commune with nature for a while, pick a lemon or lime from the family orchard…and relax.”
Bullock is seeking to sell the slice of California paradise in order to find a farm closer to her sister on the East Coast. And, there are certainly stunning options to consider.
While Long represents the movie star’s listing from L.A., Kay O’Hara from HomeSmart Realty West and Melissa Russell of Willis Allen Real Estate are the local realtors representing the Valley Center, CA property.
