The Late Kate Spade's Upper East Side Apartment Is Now For Sale

A year after Kate Spade’s tragic death, the Upper East Side apartment where she passed away is up for sale. It was her New York family home, which she shared with husband Andy Spade and their daughter. They purchased the 3-bedroom, 5-bath residence twenty years ago for $2.675 million and now it is on the market asking $6.35 million.

The 3,025-sqaure-foot apartment definitely looks like it belonged to a fashion designer since the interiors are filled with thoughtful details. Although staging has made the spaces more minimalist than eclectic, the black and white tile floor in the kitchen and bright red wall in the family room still showcase the classic yet whimsical style Kate Spade was known for.

Built in 1914, the building has great bones and is traditional in nature, but the unit’s high quality finishes exude modern luxury. Dark hardwood floors, glossy black doors, and huge windows create an elegant atmosphere that feels timeless. The antique fireplace is a special feature that reminds you of the building’s history and charm.

Andy Spade and his daughter relocated to the West Coast in late 2018 after their loss. Although this apartment must be filled with difficult memories for the Spades now, it will make a beautiful place for someone new to call home.

Randall Gianopolus of Sotheby’s International Realty has the listing, which the Wall Street Journal first reported is for sale.
