These Side Tables Made of LEGOs Are a Stride in Furniture Innovation

As a kid, did you ever wonder what it would be like to live in one of the many LEGO® structures you might have built? That dream may seem a bit far-fetched now, but with Sara Reichardt’s LEGO® side table collection, you can use décor to indulge your inner child in a playful and fashionable way.

Inspiration struck Reichardt when she attended the LEGO® Convention with her nephew in 2013. Fascinated by the complexities of the large shapes made solely out of LEGO® bricks, the designer decided to try her hand at creating furniture in the same way. The response from her teachers and peers at the Art Institute of Austin confirmed that she had indeed stumbled upon something special, and so the start of her collection was born.

Completely made of LEGO® bricks, the six table designs offered in 18 rich colors are a stride in furniture innovation. Reichardt fuses together the top and the base on some tables, while on others the pieces can be snapped into place just like the classic toy. Unlike a child’s creation, however, each piece requires roughly 1,500-3,000 LEGO® bricks and takes 10-12 weeks to construct.

If making furniture out of childhood favorites becomes a trend, we're hoping to see tables made out of shiny Monopoly pieces or fuzzy Troll dolls next.
