This $4.425 Million Studio Zung-Designed Spec House Breaks the Mold
Cookie-cutter spec houses seem to be rising on virtually every corner of the Hamptons, but not all newly constructed homes look like they just came off an assembly line. Architect Tommy Zung—whose Manhattan-based firm, Studio Zung, is known for eco-conscious residential and hospitality design, including the Crow’s Nest inn and restaurant in Montauk—has just completed a five-bedroom, 3,800-square-foot modern spec house at 216 Cranberry Hole Road in Amagansett. Dubbed Atelier 216, it’s listed with Corcoran’s Deirdre Jowers for $4.425 million, which includes all furnishings and accessories, down to the coconut- and charcoal-infused soaps and a Zung-designed surfboard. (Artwork can be purchased separately.) “With all the spec houses going up lately, it seems like there’s a lack of integrity and good building in combination with good design,” says the architect, who is also the developer on the project. “I hope we’ve changed the game a little.”
