Tom Ford Reportedly Behind the Purchase of East Hampton’s Iconic Estate ‘Lasata’

Only three months after listing in May, the former childhood Hamptons home of Jackie Kennedy Onassis has sold. While it sought $55 million at first, the home changed hands for just a bit less at $52 million. However, that’s not the only newsworthy element of this monumental sale. The Wall Street Journal reports that the buyer is none other than Tom Ford, “according to people familiar with the deal.”

Like a fine wine, the house has aged beautifully and remained just as desirable. Built in 1917, the East Hampton estate known as Lasata sits undisturbed among fields of green. According to Mansion Global, Lasata was only one of many vacation homes for the Bouvier Family, which included spots in New York City, Georgetown, Martha’s Vineyard, and Newport.

The seller, TV/film producer David Zander, paid $24 million for the iconic seven-acre property in 2018 and went to work on giving it a fresh makeover. Zander brought in interior designer Pierre Yovanavich for a glorious renovation of the approximately 8,500-square-foot home. It still exudes a timeless feel akin to that of an East End country club outside, but the inside is refreshing and contemporary.

Eileen O’Neill of The Corcoran Group and Ed Petrie of Compass represented the listing, while Frank Newbold of Sotheby’s International Realty represented the buyer.
