Tour Musician Chris de Burgh’s 27-Acre Estate in Ireland Seeking $10.8M
In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, let’s take a quick trip to the green hills of Ireland. Only 30 minutes from Dublin airport awaits Bushey Park, a 27-acre property featuring a variety of structures and expansive gardens. The owners, musician Chris de Burgh (known for hits like ‘The Lady in Red’) and his wife Diane, have long held the estate. Now for sale, you might need a little bit of luck to nab this stunning home, or €9.85 million (approximately $10.8 million).
The Irish Times reports that it first wanted €12.5 million in 2019. At the time of this initial listing, de Burgh shared with the publication that it is simply too big for two people now that their children are grown.
Buying the property in 1996, the couple restored and extended the circa-1815 main house with London-based designer Simon Kingi guiding the interiors. Thanks to their handiwork, the Georgian-style manor now spans 10,597 square feet with modern amenities like advanced security, sound systems, and efficient heating. Kingi designed the ceiling plasterwork, timber joinery work, and fabric finishes.
Ideal for entertaining, this main house links to the leisure complex–complete with a huge indoor pool. The 12,071-square-foot complex also includes a home theater, music studio, and game room. Separately, a 1,495-square-foot guest lodge offers lucky visitors a luxurious place to stay. There are even four stables on the grounds, so people can take in the scenery on horseback.
Offering a total of eight bedrooms, the estate sits just outside of Enniskerry in front of the Dublin Mountains. It’s secluded yet close enough to town that one can pop out for a pint with ease. David Ashmore of Sotheby’s International Realty holds the listing.
