Ty Pennington Lists Venice Beach Craftsman in No Need of a Makeover
If for years you got giddy or teared up at the sound of Ty Pennington shouting “Move that bus!” then this listing is right up your alley. Owned by the longtime Extreme Makeover: Home Edition host, it has joyful touches around every corner, reminiscent of the show’s penchant for whimsy and color. With a brightly tiled fireplace, open kitchen, and great indoor-outdoor flow, the airy home in Venice, California wants $2.695 million.
Transforming people’s homes, and therefore their lives, Extreme Makeover had a long run on ABC before being canceled in 2012. And Ty Pennington was there for all the tears, surprises, and of course, demoing. Pennington’s own home needs no such overhaul as he restored it this year. Dating back to 1927, but beaming with new features like bamboo floors, it has inviting spaces for laid-back, breezy living.
Within the 2,102-square-foot abode, there are three bedrooms and three baths. While the master suite is perched on the second floor, one bedroom opens directly to the renewed backyard. A green oasis with a koi pond and ample room to spread out, it’s ready for year-round outdoor fun. Then, a cozy separate structure is just the right size for a detached office, art studio, or place for a new owner’s surf gear since the beach will often be calling. Close to the boardwalk, lunch breaks may become more like wave breaks when you live here.
Has touring this cool pad made you nostalgic for the show? Fear not. It was rebooted on HGTV in 2020 with Jesse Tyler Ferguson as the host, so get out the tissue box and prepare to see some new life-changing designs.
Or, just move in here. Patrice Meepos of Compass has the extremely enticing Venice Beach listing.
