Vanessa Carlton’s Trendy Yet Historic SoHo Loft Is Available to Rent for $15,500/Month
Vanessa Carlton, the singer-songwriter responsible for the ubiquitous 2002 hit “A Thousand Miles,” has made her SoHo loft available to rent. Complete with a grand piano not dissimilar to the one she famously rode through Downtown Los Angeles for the famous song’s music video, perhaps a devoted fan would even walk a thousand miles to call the spread home-for-now. Asking $15,500/ month, the chic recently renovated rental eagerly embraces the industrial roots of the circa-1910 building in which it sits.
Exposed brick serves as the primary motif throughout the space, infusing a vintage warmth to the living spaces that harkens back to the loft’s turn-of-the-century origins. The bathrooms, redone in collaboration with acclaimed interior designer Sarah Samuel Sherman, also involve this history despite their clean newness. Of the aimed-for aesthetic, Carlton said, “I told Sarah was that I wanted to incorporate the gorgeous tiling that you’d find around New York City around the time the building was built in 1910.”
Open and bright, yet brimming with historic charm, the 2,500-square-foot apartment is a SoHo dream. It has an immense open floor plan that holds two bedrooms and two bathrooms, and it enjoys a rare total of three exposures.
Also maintaining the sense of period charm are the original iron columns and hardwood floors. Lisa Garey of Compass has the listing.
