You Can Spend Your Summer Renting a Designer’s Compo Beach Haven, Once Featured in CTC&G

While Connecticut is spoiled with scenic fall foliage and (usually) snow-blanketed winters, summer may be the best time of year to enjoy the locale. After all, Fairfield County’s shoreline is dubbed the “Gold Coast” for a reason. From Greenwich to Southport, the Long Island Sound sparkles with sailboats, swimmers, and beach-goers. And, for those looking to summer in Westport, a designer’s beautiful historic home in the beloved Compo Beach area is available starting in June.

Designer Holly Jaffe, principal of boutique design firm Wowhaus, is the homeowner and gut-renovated the circa-1927 Dutch Colonial. The radiant result was featured in CTC&G and received a 2024 Westport Historic District Commission Preservation Award. “The entire renovation was driven by what we could do to make this the magical place we knew it could be,” Jaffe told CTC&G.

The 2,000-square-foot home has four bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths. Chic interiors are accented with large-scale abstract paintings by the designer’s artist husband, David Stephen Johnson. “To me it’s all in the mix. That’s where the drama and artistry come from,” Jaffe said last year.

The property, which is just a block from the beach, boasts a verdant yard for enjoying a morning tea or soaking up the sun. Four bicycles are also available, which might come in handy for cycling to the nearby Longshore Club for tennis, golf, or al fresco dining.

David Johnson of the Vanderblue Team at Higgins Group holds the summer rental, which is available for eight weeks–from June 26 through August 21–for $33,000 per month.
