Yves Saint Laurent’s Former NYC Home at the Pierre Hotel Hits the Market

The Pierre Hotel is an iconic place to own a Manhattan home, and this storied apartment with fashion pedigree could be its fiercest unit. Though not the penthouse, apartment #3804 has been home to Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Berge (who co-founded YSL) and Valentino co-founder Giancarlo Giammetti. But, its fashion connections aren’t isolated to the past. German designer Tomas Maier is the current owner now seeking to sell it for $7.995 million.

The two-bedroom apartment has a certain je ne sais quoi, but that’s no surprise since interior designers Jacques Grange, Jed Johnson, and NYC&G IDA Innovator Award recipient Peter Marino worked together originally to create the home. More recently, Marino gave it a fashionable facelift while respecting all the original details. Mostly left empty, it is an elegant two-bedroom canvas where a creative mind can go wild with furnishings and decor. Custom-designed lighting for art exists in every room so the avid collector can create moving displays.

The views are just as inspiring. Overlooking Central Park, the apartment has that classic New York City feel, plus hotel perks to go with it. After a room service breakfast, imagine taking the elevator 38 floors down and stepping out to Fifth Avenue. What a timeless runway.

Martha Kramer of Brown Harris Stevens has the listing.
