Actress Hilary Swank’s Former West Village Home Sells for $9.8M
Even with the current coronavirus lockdown in New York City, one of the hardest hit areas in the United States by the pandemic, people are still buying homes. As Halstead CEO Diane Ramirez shared in an interview with dailyDEEDS in April, agents were able to adapt quickly and real estate went virtual. Since then, deals have closed virtually all over the city, and this West Village townhouse once owned by Hilary Swank just joined the list. First asking $10.995 million in January, the alluring townhouse has sold for $9.794 million.
The seller was the former president of Macy’s, Harry A. Lawton III, who has also been an executive at companies like eBay and Home Depot. Though he’s no stranger to making savvy sales with a long career in retail, Lawton did take a loss on this one since he picked up the stylish home in 2017 for $10.5 million.
Sitting at 33 Charles Street, the elegant townhouse surely wooed the right buyer with its light-filled spaces, all boasting a mix of sleek and traditional style. High ceilings impress from the living areas to the master suite, making rooms feel endless. Charming historic details are also scattered throughout the four-story home that dates back to 1899. There’s just as much to love outside with a manicured garden level ideal for entertaining and a pristine terrace with European flair.
Christopher Kromer and Nora Ariffin of Halstead held the listing and the identity of the lucky buyer is unknown.
