Betty White’s Lovely LA Home Lists for $10.575M Just as Her Carmel Retreat Sells
Just as there was something about Betty White that drew in audiences and fans effortlessly, the late actress’s homes seem quick to enchant. In late March, the Carmel retreat White built from the ground up in 1981 listed for $7.95 million. Buyers wasted no time, and it just sold for an astounding $10.775 million. Now, right on the heels of that success, the legend’s LA home is for sale, too.
Another special place for the TV/movie star who passed away at 99 this past New Year’s Eve, the property is available for the first time in 50 years. Cloaked in a bit of mystery, White’s longtime residence is asking $10.575 million, but is “being sold for land value,” per the listing. There will be no interior access to the home for buyers, only exterior.
But, there is some information about what’s inside for those hoping to move in or renovate. The interiors clock in at 3,029 square feet with five bedrooms and six bathrooms.
And, beyond those currently-hidden walls, the gated property’s .72-acre grounds and delightful circa-1952 architecture make a compelling case on their own. Flower gardens White may have planted or tended to dot the land as well as a pool, perfect for lounging Golden Girls-style. Setting one’s sights further, views of the Getty Museum and mountains provide a lovely sense of place.
The property, which Mansion Global reports White purchased with husband Allen Ludden in 1968, sits in Brentwood. A neighborhood favored by celebrities for decades, Gwyneth Paltrow even grew up at a home nearby. Really, there’s no telling who your neighbors might be if you splash out on this listing, represented by Marlene Okulick of Sotheby’s International Realty.
