Designer Alfredo Paredes Seeks $8M for Dreamy East Village Duplex Penthouse

The East Village is a lot of things—historic, vibrant, and abuzz all apply. However, it doesn’t exactly conjure tranquil thoughts of the Mediterranean sunshine or European dining alfresco. Perhaps that’s why former Ralph Lauren executive and designer Alfredo Paredes, who worked for the brand for over 30 years, decided to infuse that energy into his duplex apartment in the NYC neighborhood. Wearing a dreamy mix of styles, the spread is all green spaces and warm reclaimed wood ceilings. Now, it is for sale asking $7.95 million.

Located right across the street from St. Mark’s Church-in-the-Bowery, and just by Tompkins Square, the penthouse’s aesthetic was inspired by the designer’s travels. Paredes told Mansion Global that he drew from Rome and Amsterdam, as well of the work of Axel Vervoordt, for the sun-soaked, easy look.

The great room is undoubtedly the home’s heart. With a fireplace on one side and oversized, casement windows and arched glass doors on the other, it embodies at once warmth and freshness. From there, you can step out to the stunning, 1,000-square-foot terrace.

It’s not surprising that Paredes of all people was able to deliver such creative splendor here. Turning it from a simple, loft into this masterpiece, the two-bedroom home is a testament to his talents. The designer finished his long run at Ralph Lauren, which included being the chief creative officer, a few years ago and then opened his namesake studio. In this duplex penthouse especially, Paredes’ impeccable taste is unmistakable.
